News Release 14 - Antimatter Economy
Attend NASA Office of Space Science
Tuesday, October 21, 2003
On October 23 & 24, 2003, Norm Hansen
attended the NASA Solar System Exploration Sub-Committee (SSES) meeting at the NASA
Headquarters located at 300 E Street, SW in Washington, DC. He
had prepared a presentation
entitled "Antimatter Economy,
the Science, Technology, and Economics" for using
antimatter from comets to bring every country into the 21st century without destroying our
environment and turn the Star Trek dream into reality.
- Last month,
NASA announced an antimatter
solar explosion. The researchers using High Energy Solar Spectroscopic took
high-energy X-rays and gamma radiation pictures of a solar flare caused by
antimatter sungrazer comet colliding with the sun. When matter and antimatter
come together, energy is produce according to Einstein's equation of mass
times the speed of light squared or E = mc2.
- The 2 x 10 31 ergs of energy produced
from the antimatter solar explosion could have supplied the United States’
total energy needs for
10,000 years. Several hundred pounds of antimatter could be used a source of
energy to replace the billions of tons of coal, billions of barrels of oil and
trillions of cubic feet of natural gas. The fossil fuels could be used to
make trillions of dollars of products to bring every country into the 21st
century. The United States could achieve Energy Independence.
Millions of businesses could create billions of jobs.
- For exploration and commercialization of
space, people could travel in spacecraft to space stations orbiting the earth
in minutes, the moon in hours, the planets in days, and with advance
technology, the stars in weeks.
Although he wasn't given the opportunity to
make the presentation to the SSES, Dr. Edward Weiler, NASA Associate
Administrator was provided a copy.
