Release 7 - Letter
to Scientific American Editor
February 26, 2003
Dear Editor,
In the Scientific American
Special Edition on “The Edge of Physics,” Steven Weinberg’s article “A
Unified Physics by 2050” neglected to mention the important discoveries of the
antimatter proton, six antimatter quarks, and six antimatter leptons, which
includes the positron discovered by Carl Anderson in 1930.
- In 1928, matter-antimatter symmetry began when Paul
Dirac developed an equation for combining quantum theory and special
relativity. The solution contained an electron with positive energy and
positive electron (positron) with negative energy. Dirac's equation won him a Nobel Prize in 1933. Dirac theorized
for every particle there exists a corresponding antiparticle, which exactly
matches the particle but with opposite charge. After the discovery of the positron, anti-proton and anti-neutron,
Dirac speculated on the existence of anti-planets and anti-stars.
- The recent scientific discovery that comets are composed of antimatter was announced
at April 2002 joint
meeting of American
Physical Society and American
Astronomical Society. Scientists have observed the solar wind and dust
particles blasting antimatter off the surface of comets. Antimatter is a
mirror image of matter and is composed of antimatter elements. The updated
Periodic Table of Elements has 109 matter and 109 antimatter elements. Each of the antimatter element’s nuclear, physical,
and chemical properties have been defined to such an extent that scientists
know almost as much about antimatter as matter.
Steven Weinberg states “Experiments at CERN and elsewhere should let us complete the Standard Model
of particle physics, but a unified theory of all forces will probably require
radically new ideas. The radical new ideas relate to the astrophysics community who need to change their paradigm
of the universe.
- In 1966, Hannes
Alfven, Father of Modern Plasma Science, developed the Plasma Universe Model
by modifying Steady State Model to incorporate the observed motions. The
universe is composed of similar qualities of matter and antimatter. Hannes Alfven received the Nobel Prize for his contributions to basic
plasma physics and studies of space plasmas.
- Anthony Peratt, Los Alamos National Laboratory, went on to developed computer models that simulated every
known galaxy in the universe. In the center of galaxies, there are two
black holes containing condensed matter and condensed antimatter. The black
holes are ejecting matter and antimatter in opposite directions into space
forming spiral arms of matter and antimatter stars. In our galaxy, the sun
is one of the billions of stars that are composed of matter. There are a similar
number of antimatter stars. The antimatter, which enters our solar system, is
called comets.
After seventy years of antimatter research by thousands of dedicated scientists, Dirac’s Theory of Symmetry has been shown
to exist within galaxies, elements, and elementary particles. When matter and antimatter come together, energy is produced
according to Einstein's equation of mass times the speed of light squared or E =
mc 2. The discovery is as significant as man's discovery and use of fire thousands of years ago
and creates incredible opportunities for humanity.
- People will be able to travel to the moon in hours, planets in days, and
stars in weeks using antimatter. Within this century, millions of people will be living in colonies on the Moon,
Mars, and other planets and exploring the stars.
- Countries will not be dependence on goal, oil, and natural gas as sources
of energy. A metric ton of antimatter (mass of an average car) will supply the entire world's electrical
power needs for three years.
- Every country will be brought into the 21st century with eight metric
tons of antimatter. Countries will be making products from coal, oil, and natural gas rather than burning the
chemicals and polluting earth’s environment.
The economic opportunities will be measured in thousands of trillions of dollars;
but the real benefits will come from billions of people being able to live out
their dreams to make the world a better place to live. Billions of jobs will be
created.
