Press Release 2 - Attend World Space Congress Convention
October 21, 2002

Norm Hansen attend the World Space Congress - 2002 convention at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas. The WSC 2002 is the second joint gathering of the international space science and engineering communities combined with 34th Biennial Scientific Assembly of Committee on Space Research (COSPAR), 53rd Annual International Astronautics Congress of International Astronautics Federation (IAF), International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) and International Institute of Space Law (IISL).

The convention was being held under the auspices of the U.S. National Academy of Science (NAS) and hosted and organized by the America Institute of Aeronautic and Astronautics (AIAA). There were about 250 exhibitors. Some of the highlights were:

  • Visiting with Nichelle Nichols, who played Lt Uhura on the Original Star Trek TV series. She is trying to stimulate interest in manned exploration of space.

  • Space Solar Power presentation confirmed the economic model that the World's Gross National Product will increase a ten fold, every fifty years as countries are brought into the 21 century.

  • The panel discussion on Commercialization of Space was interesting. NASA is working on privatization, which means NASA is hiring companies to manage non-core business activities.  With the exception of communication satellites, NASA hasn't been successful in commercialization of space.  Numerous obstacles were discussed.

  • Got the opportunity to meet and visit with Dennis Tito, 1st space tourist.

People are looking for new technologies. Most people have not heard about the tremendous opportunities of using antimatter from comets as natural source of energy.  Antimatter energy can bring Every Country into the 21st Century without destroying earth's environment and turn The Star Trek Dream into Reality.  The energy in five grams of antimatter (mass of a nickel) is equivalent to five Saturn V rockets to the moon.  With a few grams, people in spacecraft will be traveling to the moon in hours and the planets in days.  Billions of jobs will be created.
